Robbins is proud to announce an addition to our product line: Natural Select™ lumber. Natural Select wood is an alternative treated lumber and, while new to North America, it is recognized and approved by government and trade organizations in more than 17 countries.
 

Same protection,
different ingredients…
Natural Select wood works like traditional treated wood, but the preservatives used in treatment are different.

CCA ingredients are copper, chromium and arsenate. The patented preservative in Natural Select wood is a formulation of copper azole. Copper, derived from recycled sources, is the principal active ingredient, protecting against termites and fungal decay. Protection against copper-tolerant fungi is provided by an organic azole that is also used to protect many of the foods we eat such as fruit, peanuts and wheat.

The formulation renders the wood useless as a food source for termites and fungi while keeping the wood attractive, clean and odorless.

Commercially introduced in Europe in 1992, Natural Select lumber is the world's most effective and successful alternative to traditionally treated wood. Natural Select's formula is not a restricted pesticide, so no special EPA precautions apply to handling the wood. It is ideal for many residential and commercial applications.

And, while the ingredients of Natural Select lumber differ from CCA-treated wood, the treatment process and product performances regarding fungal decay and insect infestation in above ground and in-ground applications are nearly identical.

Recommended Hardware
Natural Select wood is no more corrosive to hardware than untreated wood. Hot-dipped zinc-coated fasteners are recommended for protection against the effects of exposure to weather where treated lumber is normally used.
